Official figures state that the average learner needs between 30 and 40 hours to learn to drive from complete beginner, in addition to a further 22 hours of road practise privately. Based on these averages and a driving lesson typically costing around £20 the upper end of these figures would mean a cost of £800 purely for lessons.
